Cozy Up to Our New Winter Menu
As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to introduce three new healthy kids meals to the Nurture Life menu. With these freshly made, oh-so-cozy winter recipes, we’re showing that the classic flavors of fall and winter can be nutritious and that your family’s favorite cold weather comfort dishes don’t have to require hours of TLC in the kitchen.
This year has been a challenge to say the least, so we hope you’ll give yourself a well-deserved night off and let us provide a helping hand. Gather up your little ones for a cozy evening meal by the fireplace—or maybe the TV fireplace if just to hear those crackling fire sounds! Either way, take your pick from our new healthy meals for kids and adults, and enjoy a night where it’s all taken care of.
Beef Meatloaf with Mashed Sweet Potatoes & Peas
This warm winter trio of meatloaf, sweet potatoes and peas looks just as delightful as it tastes. Our meatloaf is made from antibiotic-free beef for a healthy serving of protein and topped with a savory housemade gravy that’s well balanced to bring out the natural flavors of beef without all the added salt.
In this meal, we’ve prioritized organic, organic, organic—using both organic sweet potatoes and organic peas. In fact, even the spices and seasonings in our meatloaf focus on organic: organic tomato paste, organic maple syrup, organic vinegar and more!
Sweet potatoes represent a classic fall veggie that’s rich in vitamin A and dietary fiber, and peas are naturally sweet enough to tempt even the pickiest eaters in your family. With a variety of colors, textures and tastes, this isn’t just a meal for kids! Everyone at the table can enjoy the comforting flavors of fall and winter in a perfectly sized, age-appropriate portion.
Minestrone Stew
Unlike many of the so-called “kid-friendly” dinner ideas you’ll find on the internet, our minestrone stew doesn’t hide the veggies! Instead, we’ve made veggies the star of the show. Mini shell pasta is tossed with a six-veggie medley featuring organic carrots, organic beans and organic zucchini.
To be honest, we have hidden a few extra veggies in there, too—by smoothly blending carrot and butternut squash directly into the hearty tomato-based sauce. Your kids will get a full serving of veggies that they can see, plus a helping of additional vitamins, minerals and fiber that they can’t.
To build up layers of traditional Italian flavor, we prepare our minestrone with extra virgin olive oil (rich in healthy fats that kids need), herby basil pesto and a touch of Parmesan cheese. Just pop this meal into the microwave or oven, and you’ll enjoy a rich bowl of stew that only feels like it took hours to make!
Chicken Pot Pie Stew with Biscuit
Does anything feel as comforting on a cold night as a piping-hot chicken pot pie? Our take on chicken pot pie serves up the same beloved flavors but holds the crust—giving your little ones more of the protein and veggie goodness to keep their minds and bodies energized and their tummies feeling full. Don’t worry, there’s still a flaky whole wheat biscuit on the side, so you can savor up every last drop of the creamy pot pie-style roux.
With our Chicken Pot Pie, you can skip the frozen pot pies that are often packed with added salt, sugar and preservatives. We’ve worked hard to source wholesome ingredients so that you’ll know exactly what you’re feeding your family.
