Nurture Life Hacks: 6 Ways to Make the Most of Your Kids Meal Delivery

JUNE 18, 2019

As a parent, your official job title might as well be “Chief Multitasker.” You’re constantly juggling to-dos while keeping an eye on roaming feet, active hands and curious minds. And at Nurture Life, we’ve designed our convenient kids meal delivery to keep up!

Below, we’re sharing six of our favorite hacks for customizing Nurture Life meals and making them even better for your family. With these creative ideas, your kids’ favorite meals will work just as hard (and in as many ways) as you do!

Hack #1: Spice Things up with Condiments

Nurture Life’s kids and toddler meal delivery is based on a simple premise: wholesome nutrition from real food, combined in ways that delight a child’s palate. We purposefully minimize salt and sugar in our meals to make sure that your little ones get all the recommended nutrients without developing the mindset that “flavorful” has to mean salty or sweet.

As your family adjusts, it’s perfectly fine to jazz up our meals with condiments! For a punch of familiar flavor, let your kids dip their Turkey Meatloaf into ketchup or add a light drizzle of maple syrup over the Mini Pancakes in our Egg Bite meal.

Even with a few extra sauces on the side, your little ones are still eating well-balanced foods, and you’re still getting the convenience of nutritious meal delivery for kids, ready in 2 minutes or less.

Hack #2: Add Finger Foods to Other Meals

Want to know an insider secret? Nurture Life’s finger foods aren’t just for young kids still mastering self-feeding. Our team members love incorporating our chunky finger foods into meals for the whole family, too!

For an extra punch of fiber, vitamins and minerals without any extra meal prep, mix a jar of our already chopped and cooked proteins and veggies into any homemade or ready-to-eat meal:

  • Soups and stews
  • Omelettes
  • Fried rice
  • Spaghetti and meatballs
  • Pasta salad
  • And more!

One staff favorite in particular is the combination of our Beef Meatloaf, Broccoli & Butternut Squash finger food with our Mac & Cheese With Cauliflower. Throwing in this beef and veggie medley adds over 30% of daily calcium, 8 grams of protein and 12 grams of micronutrient-rich carbohydrates!

Hack #3: Serve It As a Familiar Dish

If your kids are repeat eaters, you can make new Nurture Life foods familiar just by changing up the way you serve their dish! If they’ll eat up any sandwich but refuse to touch chicken, serve our Chicken Parmesan with Broccoli as a sandwich with your kids’ favorite bread! Adding their favorites from home to new dishes will open the door to new flavors, and before you know it they’ll be eating their chicken without any adjustments.

Hack #4: Separate for Snack Time

Nurture Life meals are well-rounded options for breakfast, lunch or dinner, but if your kids are in need of a quick, nutritious snack, you can use parts of your Nurture Life meal for snack time. For instance, serve up the broccoli from our Chicken Parmesan meal by itself—it may not be their typical snack food, but it provides a better midday nutritional boost compared to your average kids’ snack!

This hack is great for picky eaters. If they didn’t like a part of the Nurture Life meal, offering it to them as a snack later in the day can give you the opportunity to reintroduce the food without overwhelming them with more than one unfamiliar option at once. Nurture Life meals should be eaten within 24 hours of opening, so offer the uneaten part of their meal as a snack a few hours later or the next day.

Hack #5: Mix and Match Meals

If you’ve accidentally ordered too many meals for this week’s baby or toddler meal delivery, you can always freeze them to eat later. If you’d rather eat them fresh, though, try combining meals to suit different appetites at different ages! Two toddler meals make the perfect portion for an older kid (13+) or adult, so we love mixing and matching our toddler meals for an easy tapas-like experience.

Hack #6: Take Nutritious Flavor on the Go

Our meals don’t have to be only served hot at home! You can easily heat them, pack them and send them with your kids to school, summer camp or sports practice.

  • Especially thermos-friendly options include Mac & Cheese with Cauliflower, Beef Bolognese and Chicken Biryani.
  • For easy mealtime assembly, use a divided bento-style lunch box for Chicken Meatballs with Pasta & Vegetables or BBQ Pulled Pork with Carrots & Cornbread.

Whether you’ve got extra meals to eat up or are looking for more wholesome dessert alternatives, Nurture Life’s meals can be easily tweaked and tailored for anyone. Kids, adults, adventurous eaters, picky eaters…use these 6 hacks to make our kids meal delivery work for everyone at the table!
